There are many problems with Indian engineering colleges except for a few prestigious. Firstly, the programming classes are theoretical, where professors just write on the board what written in the textbook without explaining why. Secondly, they don’t explain the use of programming languages in the market. We as students have so many doubts that what are the top programming languages, what are the use of these languages in IT companies, and what are market demands. So there are top five programming languages in 2019, that will boost your programming career. These are JavaScript, Python, Java, Swift and C#.

JavaScript is a programming language for sure, but it was invented to make web pages come alive. So instead of having a web page that just sits there and does nothing, thanks to JavaScript a web page can now react to a user action, ask questions to visitors, change the content of the existing HTML pages, and make things run on the mouse- click and pointer movement.

Basically it makes a web page dynamic. When your Facebook timeline update on your screen or Google suggests search terms based on the few characters that you type in the search box, that’s JavaScript in action. Now, JavaScript is a client-side programming language, which means as a developer you can start coding on a browser itself without having a set up on the development environment. But the reason why JavaScript is at number first position is because over the last few years there has been mad development in the JavaScript language for example:

• The JavaScript’s JSON file format is now one of the popular way of transferring data.

•Initially JavaScript was just client -side ,but now NodeJS which is a JavaScript Runtime environment, allows you to build server using JavaScript

• Google has developed AngularJS which is an MVC framework that allows you to create the crazy interactive web application, because it extends HTML with new attributes.

In fact the modem one- page Gmail application has been developed using Angular JS and a couple of other JS frameworks.

Ease of learning

Another reason why JavaScript is at the first position is because it’s pretty easy to learn ,you might take just around 1 or 2 months. But along with add Node JS ,JSON, Angular JS ,react to your skillset as well .

Because if you are a front -end developer with just JavaScript as your skill then you will earn between 3 to 6 lakh per annum .

But if you are an end- to- end JavaScript developer with all of these skills. Then you can earn somewhere between 6 to 15 lakh per annum, because startups are really looking for developer who can quickly roll out a functionality just by the writing of a few lines of code.

On number two there is python which has been around for more than 25 years and is not in a mood to go anywhere even though it is started as a scripting language but now it is a general-purpose programming language which means that it can be used for almost anything Web development, game development, computer vision, which involves of face recognition and color detection but most importantly, data science.

working with Python is a dream because it is readable, maintainable and compatible with major platforms and systems. Python is like air. It is everywhere but we cannot see it. Netflix recommending you stuffs to .watch, that’s Python. Amazon recommending you stuff to buy that’s Python

Because Python is so heavy on data science and machine learning, it’s used by Google, YouTube and even the New York stock exchange.

Ease of learning

Coming to Ease of learning ,Python as a language in term of syntax and basics is pretty easy to learn. But then again ,using Python to design algorithms that solve Complex problem depending on how smart you are and experience .

The starting salary of a Python developer is around 3 lakh and go to up to 14 lakh per annum depending on how good you are.

On number three we have Java and do I even need to tell you why?

The most common programming language in the world , well paying job and great community support .

Java is so versatile that it can be used to develop almost anything. Games, Android apps, web apps, loT, cloud development and so on.

Ease of learning

Indirectly you use Java every day, when logging in to Facebook, Amazon,eBay, LinkedIn. The creator of Java was strongly influenced by C / C + +. So if you know your OOPS concept, then Java is pretty easy to learn. But if you are absolutely new to programming then you might take around 3 to 6 months to learn the basics of Java.

The salary depends upon your experience ,the company whether it is product based or service based and can range anywhere between 4 to 12 lakh per annum.

Apple Developer

On number four, we have Swift which is the language used for developing apps and Mac OS, iOS, watchOS.

The reason why Swift is on number four is because it is becoming one of the favorite language of software developers. It is easy to read, easy to maintain, it is faster, safer and requires fewer lines of code.

So if you are an apple fan and want to code for the future, then Swift is for you. Swift was designed to reduce the gap between the human mind and computer operations which is why syntax-side, it is pretty simple.

Ease of learning

Some say that you will just take around 3 to 4 months to start building an app with Swift.

Coming to salary, currently there is a lot of demand for developers especially from start-ups, how can quickly build apps using swift. And salary can range anywhere between 3.9 to 9.2 lakh per annum.

On number five we have C# . As you know C# is a Microsoft’s baby for building application on the .Net framework.

This language can be used for different tasks. For example- designing web forms, developing web applications,Windows application, console apps. C# is also used in developing games using the ‘unity’ game engine.

Ease of learning

As a beginner C# is moderately easy to learn in around 3 to 4 months to learn the basics and around 2 years to become a fairly competent developer. But if you are already familiar with C + + and Java then C# will super easy for you.

Coming to salary as .Net developer ,you can apply to Microsoft and also service based companies like Infosys,TCS because they use C# as a part of enterprise solutions for their clients .

So the average salary for .Net developer can expect in India as around 5 to 6 lakh per annum.
